In this intermediate crochet workshop, your host Emma will share everything you need to know to design and create your very own crochet blanket.
Heirloom crochet blankets are filled with lovingly crafted stitches and a design that is unique to each maker. They are as joyful to make as they are to gift and pass on down the generations.
Your creativity will flow in this relaxed, informal environment as Emma runs through how to create a stunning one-of-kind design and demonstrates the different crochet stitches you can use. You will then get to work creating your blanket using super soft 100% British wool in a wonderful range of colours.
Emma will be on hand if you need help or inspiration, and there will some examples of finished blankets to look at so that you can imagine how your design will look once finished.
All materials are provided so you just need to bring yourself and a notebook if you want to jot down any ideas or tips.
At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with the beginnings of a beautiful blanket, along with all the wool you'll need to complete it at home, a bamboo crochet hook, a handy printed crochet guide, and your unique design template. There will also be the opportunity to purchase extra balls of yarn if you're inspired to make your design into an even larger blanket, or make another to gift to a friend.
During the workshop, tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided so please get in touch beforehand if you have any allergies or dietary requirements. There will be a short break for lunch at around 12:30. Please feel free to bring something along with you, or pop out to Old Market and visit one of the local independent cafes or bakeries.
Emma launched Stitching Me Softly in 2017 and runs calm, relaxing crochet and craft workshops. All of her workshops are hosted in small groups, allowing plenty of time for guests to really get the hang of each technique and make their own gorgeous accessories using sustainable materials.
Emma taught herself to crochet eight years ago whilst pregnant with her second daughter and then spent time honing her skills. These skills mean she can now design and make items for her own children that she couldn’t find on the high street. She is drawn to simple geometric shapes and contrasting colour pallets and loves sharing her passion and crafting with others.View more experiences by Stitching Me Softly
Emma will be your host for this workshop. With ten years of crochet experience and loving nothing more than sharing her passion for crafting with others, Emma quickly realised after starting Stitching Me Softly three years ago that other people might also love to learn how to make their own beautiful crochet creations! She then focused on designing a range of craft kits and workshops that could be enjoyed by complete beginners whilst also offering a challenge and new technique to those with some experience.
