On 17 December 1778, Humphry Davy was born. On the night of his 248th birthday, we'll be raising a glass to celebrate in the house where he made his name. Join the owner for a candlelit tour of the Pneumatic Institution – the Georgian townhouse where the young Davy conducted his notorious laughing-gas experiments – and its remarkable cast of characters: Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Thomas Beddoes, Robert Southey, Peter Mark Roget and Thomas Wedgwood among them.
Afterwards, warm mince pies and conversation in the parlour, and a final chance to put your questions to the owner.
Arrival from 7.30pm. Approx end time 8.45pm (guide only). Champagne and mince pies included. Places strictly limited to 20. This is an evening event for adults (18+).
Please note: This event involves stairs.
Age restrictions: 18+
