Coffee is something many of us drink every day – often without thinking much about it. This workshop is an invitation to take notice and experience coffee more consciously, from it's origins to the final brew. Crop to Cup is a small-group, hands-on experience exploring where coffee comes from, how it’s transformed, and how simple choices can dramatically improve what ends up in your cup at home. This is not a lecture, and it’s not about expertise. It’s about curiosity, noticing, and gaining practical confidence – together
What to expect:
Over three engaging, hands-on hours, we’ll move through four connected stages of the coffee journey:
• From crop to green coffee Explore where coffee comes from and what shapes its flavour before it’s ever roasted – through tactile samples, images and discussion.
• Roasting & flavour Understand how roasting transforms coffee, and why different roast styles taste the way they do, with guided tasting along the way.
• Sensory exploration & tasting Learn how to taste coffee more confidently through a short sensory exercise and a guided comparative cupping of several coffees.
• Brewing & practical skills Get hands-on with a range of brewing methods, learning simple principles that can dramatically improve your coffee at home. Whatever equipment you use
A short break with fruit and snacks is included to reset the senses and keep the energy high.
Please note: This workshop focusses on a range of filter brewing methods throughout. Espresso machines are not used, but they are planned for the future.
What you’ll leave with:
• A freshly roasted bag of Contour Coffee to take home.
• Clear, practical brewing principles you can apply immediately at home (regardless of brew method)
• A simple framework for tasting coffee – helping you recognise flavour, quality and freshness with confidence.
• A printed learning cards covering key ideas from the workshop (origin, flavour and brewing)
• A small thank-you discount for future Contour events or coffee releases
