Colourful jewellery casting at Prior Shop

3 hrs
(11)

Learn how to make your own unique pieces of beautiful, eco-friendly jesmonite stone jewellery. Join Vicky of Promises Promises at indie champion Prior Shop, where she will share tips and tricks that she has learnt from 8 years working with jesmonite. You’ll come away with a new skill and 4 pieces of colourful jewellery.

You will enjoy tea or proper coffee and homemade biscuits as Vicky demonstrates different processes to help fire up your creative juices and get the best out of the materials before you get into designing.

Choose to make stud earrings, earring charms or necklaces, in 8 different shapes. As for colour and pattern - the sky is the limit! Once you are happy with the designs you’d like to make, your host will be on hand every step of the way as you cast your 4 pieces of jewellery.

The final step of the process needs to happen at least 24 hours later to allow the stone composite to set so you will practice on some older pieces before receiving your designs in the post with all the equipment you need, ready to finish these at home.

What to expect:

  • Make four pieces of jewellery in this 2.5 hour workshop
  • Learn about stone composite and how to use this amazing material for jewellery-making
  • Spend some time designing your jewellery to get the best results for your final pieces
  • Prepare a mould with different types of findings and make earrings or necklace pendants
  • Mix and dye the composite to create your own unique colours
  • Learn three different casting techniques - apply them to your pieces to create a range of patterns
  • Discover how to sand and seal your jewels to create beautiful finished pieces

This class is for up to 10 people, if you’d like to book for more people or discuss a different venue, please get in touch using the questions box below.

Vicky Myatt (She/Her)

Vicky started out making things so young that she can’t remember wanting to do anything else. Growing up she studied fashion design and worked for boutique British accessory label Emmy London for many years. While there, she started making jewellery in her spare time, soon realising that expressing her creativity through design was all she wanted to do. Since striking out on her own she has built Promises Promises into a successful design studio selling her unique jewellery internationally.

Vicky started making jewellery at a difficult period in her life and is passionate about sharing her experience of the positive power of making something beautiful with your own hands. She has been working with jesmonite for six years. Vicky loves the potential of the material to experiment with and create something unique.
