Commercial Sewing Patterns Part 3: making

This workshop will help you understand and apply sewing techniques and finishes that are relevant to your chosen pattern – sewing your item as you go.

Identify and know how to sew different stitches for different processes in your chosen pattern. Learn about ways in which patterns use common techniques to mould and shape the fabric around the body – and apply these in the construction of your item.

Build your knowledge of how to use different presser-feet on your machine and how to sew special stitches for fastenings, seam finishes and features.

If you’re confident enough to take on cutting out and transferring pattern markings at home you can join this workshop and have support to get you over the line with final making up.

Alternatively, you may choose to add this course as a follow-on from either or both of our other two sewing pattern workshops.

What to expect:

  • Discover the art of sewing with a hands-on workshop, guiding you through advanced techniques tailored to your chosen pattern.
  • Master various stitches and processes to bring your unique designs to life.
  • Explore the transformative power of patterns as you learn to sculpt fabric around the body for a custom fit.
  • Enhance your sewing machine skills with a deep dive into presser-feet usage and specialty stitches for standout fastenings and finishes.
