Discover the tradition Chinese art of water marbling and create unique, organic patterns by floating inks on water and then transferring them to paper or fabric. Come along and try this playful and experimental surface design technique which encourages exploration, chance and creative expression! Design something truly unique as every outcome is different and unrepeatable.
During the 2 hour workshop you will learn about the history, principles and tools of water marbling. Tutor Amy Chen will then demonstrate three different pattern techniques after which you'll have plenty of time for hands-on demonstration and creation of marbled designs. You'll then create your final piece which you will leave to dry for collection.
During the final part of the workshop, participants can choose to create their artwork on different types of paper (included in price), or purchase a blank silk scarf to complete a marbled textile piece during the session (£15 for a 35x35cm silk scarf payable to the tutor on the day in cash or via bank transfer).
A fun, hands-on experience suitable for all ages! All tools and materials will be provided. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty or bring an apron. Suitable for anyone aged 12 and above.
