Ceramics and Glaze 6 Week Course

This course is about creative experimentation with ceramics and glaze. Helen has been teaching and working with ceramics and glaze for 20+ years. Her designs have been featured on The Great Pottery Throw Down and commissioned by companies such as Aberdeen Standard Life and EtsyUK. Her work is best known for its complex melting glazes and quietly provocative design. Helen's breadth of experience is invaluable when it comes to teaching creative ceramics and glaze. This course gives students the confidence to try things out and push the boundaries of material and function in pottery.

We make glazes from scratch, learn about oxides, engobes, slip decoration, application techniques, colour and texture in glaze. I also teach hand building with clay and slab construction techniques. Plus we will be inspired by contemporary and historic pottery design. For beginners and intermediate, no experience required.

You'll be hosted by

Helen Rebecca Ceramics and Design

I have been working with ceramics and glaze for 20+ years. I have taught art and pottery in schools and with community groups. I love seeing people's styles and skills develop. The workshops are playful, fun and free with all the technical support you need. Workshops have up to 10 people for a comfortable buzz and learning atmosphere, sharing ideas together. No one leaves a workshop with the same piece and all the confidence to have a another go.

My work is best known for its complex melting glazes and quietly provocative design.
It has been commissioned by companies such as Aberdeen Standard Life and Chateaux Villepreux. Last year my condiment pot was featured on The Great Pottery Throw Down!
