8 Week Beginners Jewellery Course - Wednesday

Beginner's silver jewellery is a brilliant introduction to the craft through 8 weeks of skills-based learning. You'll learn a wide range of silversmithing skills so that you'll leave the course able to make your own jewellery from scratch!

This is directed learning with tasks for each 2-hour session. You'll get hands-on help from a professional jeweller, learn how to use jewellery making tools, and learn more than the fundamentals of creating your own jewellery.

This course makes a wonderful gift for anyone with an interest in everything that sparkles!

Course dates:

  • May 8th: Sawing / Drilling / Saw piercing / Filing

  • May 15th: Soldering

  • May 22nd: Texturing and forming (hammers, doming block, rolling mill)

  • May 29th: Learning about findings 1 - jump rings & bales.

  • June 5th: Learning about findings 2 - ear wire and posts

  • June 12th: Calculating ring size, designing ring out of sheet or wire

  • June 19th: Making a ring

  • June 26th: Make what you like using skills learnt.

Please note prices include all disposables but do not include silver costs for the course which depends on weight. If you would like to take items away please bring a payment method with you.

“The full course is £250 for 8 weeks running from Feb 7th - Mar 28th. If you would like to book the full course, please select Feb 7th as your date and purchase a 8 Week Course ticket. This will secure your place on all 8 sessions.

For drop-in tickets, please select the date of the session you would like to attend and purchase a Drop-in session ticket. This ticket is only valid on the date that you have selected.”

Please note the price doesn't include the cost of silver taken home and this will be calculated on weight.

On the day

Nearest car park is Little Paradise or there is free parking in Asda for 2.5hours. Please check location before you come as access is a little confusing. Bus routes 24 and M1 come very close to the shop.

Bethany is the silversmith behind both Silver & Steel and her personal jewellery brand Bethany May Silver. Down to earth and welcoming Bethany loves sharing her passion for jewellery making with makers of all levels. Having learnt from Alice Goldsack, herself a student of the prominent Diana Porter, Bethany cares deeply about the silversmithing culture and community in Bristol. After years of creating her own work, Bethany developed engaging workshops for beginner jewellers and has taught people of all ages and abilities. Bethany is an experienced creative workshop teacher, educator and trainer who will ensure the experience is fun, memorable and participants leave feeling empowered.
