Be a barista with Odd Kin

What you'll do

Are you a coffee enthusiast? A budding barista? If so, this experience will provide the perfect introduction to the art of making good coffee, and who better to host the workshop than an epic barista and the Head of Training at Odd Kin Roastery.

Your caffeine-fuelled experience will start as your host Kevin introduces you to the theory and science of espresso and milk texturing, before moving on to demonstrations of how to properly dial in a grinder - the importance of correct dosing and getting the right yield and grind setting.

Kevin will also demonstrate how to identify good coffee, how to taste-test and help you to recognise how to problem-solve any issues with your equipment, all in the quest to extract the perfect espresso.

Your coffee adventure continues as you explore how to texture milk for different drinks and get the best tips and tricks for creating that all-important micro-foam.

Finally, you’ll move on to the basics of latte art – we guarantee you'll be pouring a beautiful heart by the end of the workshop… the first step on your barista journey!

About Odd Kin Coffee Roasters

Odd Kin Roastery launched in January 2021, with the team roasting the coffees they love to drink, for the people that they love to drink them with.

Odd Kin was a pipe dream of the team at Wayland's Yard until the lockdown allowed them to slow down and identify why they were in the coffee business to begin with. The team have been brought together over a number of years through their love of giving a little lift to those around them – they’ve all chosen coffee as their way of doing this and are excited to share their passion with you.

Your host

Kevin

Kevin is the Head of Training at Odd Kin Coffee, he hails from Indonesia and fell in love with specialty coffee whilst in Australia. He learnt his craft whilst living in Aus for 8 years from some of the best coffee roasteries and shops around. We've never met someone more passionate about coffee and his infectious enthusiasm really comes across when he teaches. He is a calm, relaxed and really supportive teacher for both complete novices and experienced baristas.
