Autumn Cyanotype Workshop

Great creative this Autumn! Discover the magic of cyanotypes and create your own Autumnal Artworks and/or string of Leafy Bunting.

Cyanotype is a beautiful photographic process that uses sunlight to create stunning Prussian blue images. Enjoy access to Fiona’s dried flower and leaf collection to create your very own botanical artworks using this magical process.

Join us for a relaxed, experimental 2-hour session where you’ll hear a little of the history of cyanotypes, follow a step-by-step demonstration of the process, and then have plenty of time to create your own cyanotypes.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to arrange flowers, grasses and leaves to create your own unique botanical artworks. We will start by exploring the process and different ways of coating paper. We will mix the cyanotype solution and expose our prints using the sunshine or under UV light boxes if it’s a grey day. You’ll make between 4 and 8 small cyanotypes during this hands-on workshop or a string of paper bunting, working completely at your own pace.

It's a great chance to try something new, spend time with friends, and take away beautiful pieces for your home or to share with loved ones.

You will be supported by Fiona throughout, who’s calm and friendly approach will give you confidence to experiment with this technique.

Suitable for beginners as well as those with more experience. You’ll be gentled guided throughout the session, with Fiona on hand for advice or to answer any questions.

We will be both seated and standing during the workshop. All materials and tools will be provided, along with an apron to protect your clothes. All you need to do is bring yourself ready for a little dose of creativity! Aprons are provided but the cyanotype solution will stain clothes (blue!) so please don’t wear anything you’re too precious about!
