What you'll do

Celebrate the authentic flavours of Thailand in this Thai food evening, with Cooking It. Bring along wine or beer to enjoy as you tuck in to every dish that's been made.

Discover the bright hues of turmeric-rich curry powders, chilli peppers and fresh herbs, combined with ingredients like coconut milk, ginger and garlic to create a feast for the eyes as well as deliciously fresh flavours. The dishes you experience may vary depending on the availability of ingredients, but the menu for the evening could include:

  • Green Thai curry
  • Perfect Thai jasmine rice
  • Mah Hor - classic 'galloping horses' made with minced pork and pineapple
  • Larb Gai - a refreshing Thai salad

You’ll each make your own curry paste from scratch, discovering exactly how to recreate this Thai staple at home. For the majority of this experience your chef host will demo the cooking, while you’re invited to bring your own wine or beer to enjoy as you watch these flavours come together and then devour every dish together at the end.

You’ll go away with the recipes for everything made on the night so you can recreate them yourself at home.

About Cooking It

Cooking It is a busy cookery school in the heart of Cotham. It was founded by Monica, who loves being in the kitchen, feeding friends and family and seeing the pleasure that sharing food can bring. Growing up in Barcelona, Monica’s passion for cooking started early and she still loves making the tapas dishes that she learnt as a girl. At Cooking it they love making food and entertaining people, and with so many cooking experiences to choose from there’s something for everyone to enjoy. They welcome people of all ages and always aim to create a fun atmosphere to cook in, where you can enjoy food with friends or family and discover more about delicious recipes.

Monica

Monica is the founder of Cooking It. She was born in Barcelona but has called Bristol home for almost 30 years. Monica grew up around food and could regularly be found in the kitchen of her grandparents’ restaurant, soaking up all the flavours and recipes - so much so she still loves making the tapas recipes she learnt as a child. She returns to Barcelona often to carry on discovering new recipes in her family’s restaurants and patisseries. When Monica isn’t sharing her cooking know-how, you’ll find her enjoying wine with friends and feeding people - often her four daughters and their friends.

What people are saying

Really enjoyed the class and Paul was always on hand to help with any queries. It was a nice setting and small enough not to be waiting around to use things. The only criticism would be that there was a lack of some fresh herbs and maybe a little more thought should go into making sure all the ingredients needed were on hand and fresh. However, we managed and the food was delicious. Thank you
