Two hours of unbridled creativity awaits in this adult art experience for a small group of up to six people. Your Chandos Atelier host will be Emma, a Bristol artist who offers art and making experiences for all ages.
You’ll have a table full of materials to choose from and some tips and techniques from Emma, who has made props and costumes for over 20 years. What you make is completely up to you, and with so many materials to choose from you can allow your imagination and creativity to run wild, with lots of space to create in. You might choose to make outlandish costumes in miniature on wooden models, perhaps use wire and foam to sculpt tiny creatures, or choose wooden parts and a glue gun and just build build build.
There will be acrylic paint available if needed plus fabrics, leathers, beads, embellishments - pretty much any material you can think of, Emma has got it! Each month there will be a different set of things to explore - pouring plaster, wirework, silk painting, polymer clay - and always a chance to enjoy the process of letting your mind wander, and your hands explore. It’s time to make your own masterpiece!
Chandos Atelier specialises in sharing freestyle, exploratory art and making experiences for everyone. It's run by Emma, who has been making props and costumes for over 20 years and now works out of her colourful Chandos Atelier studio, in Redland. In her experiences guests are free to experiment and explore with different materials and methods. Emma is very much of the ethos that there is no right or wrong when it comes to being creative, just safe practice and exciting art discoveries. Any experience at Chandos Atelier will be filled with fun, encouragement and creativity as you rediscover your artistic side and work together to make your own original art.
Emma will be your host. She’s been running her art experiences since 2017 when she returned to Bristol after years working around the world making props and costumes for TV and theatre. Emma loves hosting groups of all ages and skills, and helping them to explore their creativity. Her making method is experimental, and she encourages everyone who comes along to explore their creativity and most of all, have fun.
It’s such a pleasure to participate in anything that involves Chandos Atelier! It’s always really creative, fun, and brings a big smile to your face. I think it’s Emma’s attitude of genuine interest in your ideas and her encouragement to explore - there’s no right or wrong - just a great space to try things out, play, feel like you’ve learnt something - about art but also about yourself. We need more spaces like these in our lives! It’s a breath of fresh air and positivity that’s very freeing.
