My 4 friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the wine and food pairing evening. The presenter was very knowledgeable and provided lots of information on the origin, characteristics and background of the wine producers. The details that she provided were really very good (especially the map)
The food was really good, tasty and did seem to match the wine well.
It was very nice to be greeted with a glass of Prosecco as the first wine to taste
We will be attending the next one
-Please let your host know if you have any dietary requirements before the experience, so they can make sure to provide a delicious alternative that complements the wines.
Magari is run by Italian husband and wife team Fabio and Gilda. With roots deep within Italian food and wine production, and having moved to the UK a few years earlier, they set up Magari in Wapping wharf to provide Authentically Italian and Sustainably British food.
In Italy, cooking is simple. Each dish has few ingredients, and flavour is based on quality not complexity. Farmers don't go shopping, they prepare creative recipes in the kitchen with what they have!
At Magari, Fabio and Gilda chose to do as the farmers of the past. They are proud to offer pasta dishes rooted in tradition, sustainability and delicious creativity.
Rachael is from Taunton, only 45 minutes down the M5, and works as a laboratory technician, responsible for quality adherence at Accolade Wines in Avonmouth.
Studying for her masters in the Okanagan Valley wine region in British Columbia, Canada, sparked a love of all things wine science in 2019.
She is now educated to WSET level 2 and level 3 in wines, and full of enthusiasm and knowledge paired perfectly with her scientific roots.
She is off to Australia in February for the 2023 vintage in McLarren vale, which will take her one step closer to her goal of becoming a winemaker.
Moving to Bristol shortly after the pandemic, Rachael become close friends with Gilda and Fabio, and after they opened Magari has been desperate to share her love of Italian wines with the fantastic customers that visit each day.
