What you'll do

It's time to tune into your artistic side and get inspired by others channelling their creativity. Get involved with The Square Club's evening art club and be amazed by what you can achieve in just a short space of time.

What's this art club's mission? Inclusion by design. Square Works has teamed up with Our Creative Community to make art classes accessible to as many people as possible, no matter what their background or ability. Every fortnight will explore a different skill in-depth, before shifting its focus onto an exciting new area. We all have a creative side, whether or not we choose to engage with it. This is a chance to reconnect with this part of ourselves and enjoy some playful explorations.

This inspiring series includes:

Weeks 1 & 2 - Perspective (3rd &10th of February)

In the art world, perspective is all about your point of view. Only this time, there will be a spatial focus. When you learn to draw perspective, as a beginner, you learn of its great importance. It’s all about how you look at the world. Your hosts will do an amazing job helping you get yours into focus, so you can create fantastic art.

Weeks 3 & 4 - Still life (17th & 24th of February)

The practice of still life develops and strengthens your natural drawing ability. It improves your observation and rendering of shapes, tones, colours, patterns and textures across a range of different media. Learn all the best tips and tricks in the book, alongside composition and the interaction of positive and negative space.

Weeks 5 & 6 – Portraiture (3rd & 10th of March)

Discover different ways of capturing a likeness of a subject being painted in this series. Develop measuring, perspective and paint application techniques using a range of different and imaginative approaches to your work.

Weeks 7 & 8 - Life drawing (17th & 24th of March)

Experiment with various traditional and experimental media, such as pencil, charcoal, pen and ink. These explorations will help you capture a range of different poses. Develop your interpretation of the human form and enjoy expressing your creativity. A life model will be joining you in the final week as your subject. You'll feel like a more confident artist than ever before.
