If, like us, you can’t wait to reunite with friends and family outdoors (whilst staying safe with the new rules, of course), you’ll be very happy to hear that we’re welcoming back outdoor experiences from March 29th! We’ve been busy lining up some incredible new outdoor Bristol experiences that you won’t want to miss, hosted across the city and beyond. There’s something for everyone to enjoy this April...

Outdoor swimming in Clevedon
1. Outdoor swimming at Clevedon Marine Lake

If you’ve got the feeling you're one of the only people not to try wild swimming during lockdown, the incredible Rowan Clarke has got you covered. As you prepare to take a dip in the beautiful Clevedon Marine Lake, Rowan will share all the tips and tricks you need to take your first wild swim - or if you’ve tried it before, you can improve your breathing, water confidence or stroke. This taster experience will reveal the many incredible benefits of wild swimming and give you the confidence to jump into wild swimming!

2. Go on a haunted and hidden walk in the Old City

Take a walk back in time and discover the many haunted places in Bristol’s Old City, including a 16th century church guarded by a ghostly monk, the UK's most haunted cinema, and a 17th century inn haunted by a poltergeist. Hidden Bristol is one of the city’s longest running walking experiences - and with an outdoor pub stop along the way, it’s perfect to book as a fun outdoor experience with friends or family.

Private wildcrafting and foraging walk
3. Go on a private wildcrafting and foraging walk

Here’s an opportunity to discover more about foraging and natural remedies as you explore a beautiful green space in Bristol. In this private experience for up to 6 people, you get to choose the spot you want to explore - and your host, Maria, will help you pick the perfect place. As well as identifying plants along the way and getting lots of foraging tips and tricks, you find out how to make your own spring tonics, healing balms and floral syrups to take home.

4. Make your own lino prints on a barge

If something creativite sounds like your thing, then why not make your own lino prints while taking in the view from Portishead Marina. You'll be crafting on the heated, open front deck of a 1970s Caribbean cruiser boat in Portishead Marina. Your award-winning artist host, Barbara will have everything you need as you create your own handmade prints and cards in a lovely waterside setting.

Afrofusion dance
5. Get moving with Afrofusion dance fitness

Bask in the spring sunshine as you throw yourself into a fun, high energy dance experience filled with Afrofusion style. Your lively host, Brice, welcomes everyone including those with two left feet - and sequins are encouraged! With good vibes all round, what better way to celebrate being outdoors with friends.

6. Try your hand at sheep herding

Meet a friendly local flock of sheep and put your herding skills to the test, with the help of your professional shepherd host, Chris Farnsworth. A lot of fun awaits as you try to get each sheep in the pen, which may be a lot harder than it looks! But don’t worry, as Chris and his trusty sheep dog will be on hand to share their top tips and answer all your questions.

7. Go Nordic walking in Ashton Court

Treat yourself to a Nordic walking experience through one of Bristol’s most beautiful places- the Ashton Court Estate. You’ll wind through some of the estate’s 850 acres trail, including through the deer park which is home to 110 red and 90 fallow deer. Your friendly host, Ros, will have your poles ready and will help the group lookout for wildlife along the way and find the most breathtaking views.

Ride a bicycle made for two
8. Ride a bicycle made for two

Ever ridden a tandem? Now’s your chance to grab a buddy and hop on a bicycle made for two to explore The Strawberry Line. Simply turn up on the day and the Strawberry Line team will have your tandem, route and even a tasty picnic ready for you to head off on an adventure. The Strawberry Line runs through wildlife-rich wetlands, a nature reserve and farmland - you’ll cross the River Yeo, pass fishing lakes and find lots of spots perfect for your picnic!

Stand up paddleboarding taster
9. Try stand up paddleboarding

SUP Bristol are heading back onto the water, and you’re invited! Book a stand up paddleboarding taster experience and you might be surprised at just how much fun it is to try something new and see Bristol from the water. Stand up paddleboarding is fun, safe and your host, Tim, believes that everybody should try it at least once, so that’s us sold!

10. Zone out with a calming outdoor guided relaxation

Go on a journey of relaxation as you’re guided through an outdoor meditation whilst laying under gently swaying trees. With mats laid out, gentle music playing and fairy lights twinkling, your calming host, Julie, will have everything ready so that when you arrive you can simply lay down and relax. Enjoy a full 30 full minutes of guided relaxation, and walk away feeling peaceful, refreshed and calm.
