Forest bathing, also known as Forest Therapy, was developed in Japan as a way to reduce stress and improve peoples wellbeing and connection to the natural/more than human world.
Research has shown that 2 hours in natural surroundings lowers blood pressure and stress hormones such as Cortisol, increases mental focus and even improves immunity.
During the experience you will be engaging in a range of mindful invitations to open your senses to the natural world. This open awareness will then be used as you move through the woods.
To deepen our connection to the more than human world you will learn also learn animal tracking skills and gain an understanding of bird language helping us build a picture of the other animals sharing the space, when they were there, and what they were up to!
Towards the end of the session will learn about the seasonal tea plants around us and how to gather and prepare these and then use fire lighting skills to boil water in the storm kettle.
To end our time together we will have a chance to sit down with our foraged tea to provide time to reflect on our shared experience.

Raven Call Project offers bespoke nature connection experiences. They incorporate grounding forest therapy with an understanding of animal tracking and bird language to deepen your awareness of the more-than-human world and its stories.
I originally trained and worked as a wildlife manager and forester learning a lot about tracking and the natural world from my elders.
After a career change I moved into the social care field working with people who were homeless, in prisons and at risk young people.
To further my ability to support people I worked with, I gained a degree in psychology and then moved to Trondheim to join the Childhood Studies masters programme at the Norwegian Centre for Child Research.
While in Norway I learned a lot about democratic education and the Norwegian approach to nature and the outdoors known as Friluftsliv. Most recently I have trained as a natural mindfulness and Forest therapy (Shinrin-Yoku) guide.
I have 12 years experience of leading experiences, outdoor activities and wild camping trips internationally including Norway the USA and the UK. I am now combining my knowledge and experience to facilitate regular nature connection experiences in South West England.
Come and join me in the woods.
