This experience is part of City Uncovered: Birmingham, taking place from 18th - 31st May 2026 – a limited-time series of unique, under-the-radar experiences designed to help you see the city differently.

What to expect:

You’ll meet your guide and set off on a 3-hour walking tour through Birmingham, uncovering the real-life locations behind some of the biggest names in film and television.

As you explore the city, you’ll discover how Birmingham has doubled as London, America, and even Abu Dhabi airport on screen—transforming familiar streets into cinematic backdrops. Along the way, you’ll visit locations featured in productions like Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Line of Duty, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Ready Player One, Silent Witness, Kingsman, and more.

Your guide—an experienced former BBC & ITV tour host—will bring each stop to life with behind-the-scenes insights, from how scenes were filmed to the tricks of visual effects and sound design. Expect interactive moments too, with quizzes and challenges to test your film and TV knowledge as you go.

The experience blends pop culture, storytelling, and city exploration—giving you a completely new perspective on Birmingham.

COVID-19 guidelines

The tour host will test for covid -19 the morning of all tours.

If a guest tests positive for Covid-19, the guest must contact and reschedule tour for the safety of fellow tour guests.

  • Please arrive 10-5 mins before the start of your tour
  • Please wear comfortable shoes/trainers for walking for 3 hours.
  • Public toilets: Grand Central/New Street opposite Karen's Diner
  • Parking: Grand Central car park B5 4AH (opening hours: 06:00 AM -11:30 PM)

Lee's TV credits include Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Queer As Folk, Eastenders, and the BBC Three drama ‘In the Flesh’. From playing a policeman to a prison guard, he can tell you firsthand what it's like filming on location with fun & entertaining anecdotes about the experience!
