What you'll do

DOORS: 20:15 | FILM STARTS 20:30

The historic Clifton Observatory plays host to BFF's Spirit Of Cinema screenings, which pair classic films with great artisan gins. Join them in this intimate setting overlooking the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge, and (weather permitting) enjoy the stunning views day and night on the rooftop terrace before the film begins.

Your ticket includes a Gin & Tonic on arrival, as well as a gin-based cocktail served during a brief interval in the film. If you’ve got to drive, or gin isn’t to your taste, there is a new non-alcoholic ticket option – enjoy the drinks with a premium non-alcoholic spirit alternative!

This September, BFF are celebrating two of the greatest American films of the late 60s, concluding with the Western dramedy Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. This Oscar-winning classic – including legendary screenwriter William Golding’s first win – is truly timeless, led by the charismatic eponymous antiheroes’ double act. It was the most successful box office hit of 1969, and is still being discovered, rediscovered, and enjoyed by audiences today; after a 50th anniversary screening several years ago, BFF are delighted to welcome it back to our programming, on the anniversary of its US premiere.

Take your evening further with a add-on option:

• Indulge with a delicious deli box from Two Belly, with cheeses, chutney and crackers to enjoy alongside your film

Please note that this event is strictly for over-18s only

ABOUT THE FILM PG | 1969 | 110 mins

After committing a string of train robberies, free-spirited Wild West outlaws Butch Cassidy and Harry “Sundance Kid” Longabaugh are relentlessly pursued by a specialist team of lawmen. With the heat rising in the USA, they devise a plan to flee to Bolivia to outrun the posse.

About Bristol Film Festival

Bristol Film Festival was started by director Owen Franklin in 2015. The Festival provides an alternative experience for lovers of film and cinema, and celebrates the cultural landscape of his home city, Bristol.

The concept is simple: to bring classic films back to the big screen, in some of Bristol’s most iconic and interesting venues, including Bristol Museum, Clifton Observatory, Bristol Cathedral, and Redcliffe Caves.

The films and locations are carefully matched together, and involve unique immersive elements - whether it's live performers, tours of venues after hours, or themed wine tastings, you can expect to leave one of our events having had a film experience unlike any other!
