Bat Detecting & Pizza Nights in Kentisbury

Fancy learning about British bats? Want an unforgettable dining experience? Moor Wild Experiences has got something special up their sleeves, combining both!

In this experience enjoy a pizza party and get introduced to the world of bat detecting. Treat the foodie, nature or wildlife lover in your life to this treat!

Your feast: First, get warmed up with a pizza. Using Moor Wild's popular freshly risen pizza dough, stretch and stack your own pizza high. Their outdoor educator Liz will introduce you to the bat detector and bat sounds, before taking off outdoors. As your pizzas come out one-by-one from Gary's wood-fired oven, you may spot bats swoop and dart over Kentisbury's sunsetting sky, outside the 16th Century barn.

Your bat safari: After tucking into some good grub, you'll get all wrapped up. You'll start your slow-paced, flat circular walk around the church beside the farm. Who will spot the bats first? The bats will come out of gaps of old roof tiles and ivy-coated trees, following the hedgerow corridors and staying way above your heads. The bat detector will make 'clicks and ticks' sounds which differ between each species. Can you learn quick how to identify which one is which? You may even spot other nightlife too!

Your treat: After this magical experience, you'll share conversation over a warming hot chocolate. Melt giant (yes giant!) gooey marshmallows over hot embers in Moor Wild's small firepit. You might even be lucky enough to say hello to the farm calves, sheep, pygmy goats and chickens in their yard - the whole farmyard family!
