Transform Your Woodwork with Finishing Techniques

Do you love working with wood, but struggle to achieve the perfect finish for your projects? Do you want to learn how to use different types of finishes and stains, and when to apply them? Do you want to discover the secrets of traditional wood finishing from a master craftsman?

Join Harry Morris, a passionate woodworker who's travelled the world to learn from the best. Harry will share his knowledge and skills on how to finish wood beautifully and sustainably. You'll learn how to prepare the surface, choose the right finish, and apply it with confidence. You'll also learn how to use stains to enhance the natural beauty and character of wood.

You'll need to bring along a chair frame to practice on, and you'll also get to see and learn from the projects of everyone else taking part. It's a great opportunity to meet other wood enthusiasts and have fun while learning.

Harry is not only a skilled woodworker, but also an advocate for preserving the use of hand tools and historic heritage crafts. He'll also teach you about the origins and impacts of modern finishes, and how to avoid falling for misleading marketing claims.

By the end of this workshop, you'll have a better understanding of the principles and practices of wood finishing, and you'll be able to apply them to your own projects. You'll also have a finished chair frame that you can proudly display in your home or give as a gift.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers, and will take place at the Bristol Upholstery Collective, a creative and supportive space for local makers.
