Welcome aboard the Portishead art boat where you can enjoy a short introductory taster session into tote printing. Design, cut and print your own linocut, hand-printed eco tote bag on the front deck of a 1970s ‘Caribbean cruiser’. Make art, not plastic waste!
Your host Barbara is an award-winning artist and sculptor with years of teaching experience. You will get the opportunity to discover how linocut art prints are made, from designing then hand printing your own design. Barbara will have everything you need including a cotton tote bag, printing inks, soft cut lino blocks and lino cutting tools; not forgetting, plenty of inspiration! Barbara will show you how to carve lino blocks and do test prints on paper with water-based non toxic inks, before immortalising your images onto eco-friendly shoppers.
Enjoy a glass of wine or coffee or tea to get the inspiration flowing and discover your creative side. Before you know it, you’ll be leaving with a customised eco-friendly art tote bag to take home :)
If you would like to book other times/dates in the please contact Barbara, they can be arranged

Barbara is an artist and tutor that enjoys hosting hands-on, creative art workshops in Bristol and Portishead marina. In fact, she's been making art since she was a child and it's always been a huge part of her life. Barbara studied fine art and completed a masters in sculpture and has been exhibiting, creating projects and commissions ever since. She had a studio at Spike Island and then spent 10 years in Bangalore working in different parts of India, before returning to Bristol to live on a boat in Portishead. As well as being a part time tutor at Bristol School of Art and the Folk House, Barbara is now happy to be launching art workshops on her boat, exploring a range of creative making experiences.

A nice, creative experience with Barbara on her lovely boat. We had a great time :)
It seemed a little difficult to get a good result using the tools available on the fabric of a tote bag but we enjoyed the process none the less. You can take your lino with you though so we might use again to print on card which might be easier for beginners!
Big thank you to the very lovely Barbara for inviting us onto our boat and guiding us to make such lovely tote bags. Very relaxing and had a lovely conversation while being creative.
