EmailThis is a one-day hand-building workshop introducing you to the beautiful material of porcelain. The aim is for you to create up to three beautiful pieces (such as mugs, jugs and vases) and you will leave feeling confident and proud of your stunning porcelain creations!
Your host Jessica Thorn has been working with porcelain for over 9 years now and has learnt very much the hard way! However, she has overcome these obstacles and can't wait to share her skills, tips and techniques so you can successfully hand-build with porcelain!
Suitable as a beginner's pottery class to the more advanced interested in learning how to use porcelain.
What you will learn:
- How to best prepare the porcelain by wedging and rolling
- How to use pattern pieces to construct your designs
- How to successfully join and construct your pieces
- How to clean and tidy porcelain creations
- How to apply coloured slip to decorate your pieces.
What is included in this workshop:
- All materials and equipment provided
- Your pieces will be bisque fired and glazed
- Tea, coffee and snacks

Jessica Thorn is a professional ceramist, specialising in hand building with porcelain. She has exhibited at major UK ceramics fairs events and galleries.
Jessica has been teaching pottery for over eight years. She loves sharing her passion for ceramics, and her experiences give you the skills and tools needed to get you working with clay. Her classes encourage you to bring out your inner creative and will guide you to make pots that you are proud of!
