I totally recommend this tour with Martin to learn about the history of Bristol when it was a walled city with many churches and an adjoining castle. Martin identified many clues existing today which point towards life in these older times.

A fascinating exploration of Bristol city centre & its history with a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. Really stimulating. Bought as a birthday treat for my husband and he very much enjoyed it.

The tour was fascinating and Martin is great fun, a fountain of knowledge for all the questions we had. Would highly recommend for tourists and Bristolians alike!

Really enjoyed getting Martin’s in depth knowledge of Bristol, its history and lesser known corners. We are from Bristol but there was plenty that was new to us, and it was a fun experience that I’d certainly recommend.

Martin was super easy to talk to, and that’s a good thing because on that day it was just the two of us. I really enjoyed our walk around the old city and making parallels between old Bristol and old London. The Full Court Press coffee was amazing. Martin had some fab recommendations for the rest of my trip… which were gratefully received!

Martin was the perfect guide round Bristol's Old City. Two hours just rushed by and I learned much more about an area I thought I knew quite well. He has a relaxed and friendly style and his affection for our wonderful city comes across at every stage. By the end of the tour it felt as if we were a group of old friends taking a stroll together. Highly recommended.

A very informative and enjoyable tour round the historic core of Bristol exploring some of the hidden features and parts within the old city that we might otherwise miss in our busy lives! Would recommend!

Even if you've lived in Bristol for a long time there will be many things you've never noticed before on this tour of the Old City. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to find out more about the history of Bristol (which should be everyone!). Martin was really engaging and an excellent tour guide.

Great personal tour around Bristol!

Very informative, interesting and entertaining. We were taken to parts of Bristol which we have never explored, and we learnt a good deal about the city. The visit to a good coffee-shop and the receipt of two lively guide books written by Martin as part of the ticket were a generous plus. A very worthwhile and memorable experience.

Martin is a very knowledgeable guide who showed us many points of interest which we would have overlooked.We felt we gained a real insight into Bristol's history.The books were a treat.

Fantastic to spend time with Martin who is a charming and able host and a font of knowledge. The tour is focused on Bristol Old Town’s multiple layers of built infrastructure about which Martin knows tonnes. If it missed one thing it would be some more human stories that might bring the buildings and infrastructure alive a bit more.

Even though I had explored the Old City with its many ancient churches and surviving medieval streets before, Martin is a knowledgeable, friendly guide who was able to point out features which were hidden in plain sight. Highly recommend this to Bristol residents and visitors alike.

This was a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday! I have wanted to go for some time but work on Sundays. It was just as good as I expected - actually it was much better. Loved it!

Martin was a wonderful guide on this fascinating walk through the Old City of Bristol, showing us evidence of a once thriving medieval city and its castle (sadly destroyed by a combination of the Luftwaffe and Cromwell). Fortunately some things remain, which Martin showed us by taking us off the beaten track to some unexpected gems. Certainly a tour to recommend and remember.

It was so completely VERY VERY NOT boring!! Was engrossed throughout, Martini’s passion for the local history of Bristols old town shone through, we were shown so many hidden gems and he shared so many fascinating snippets of information ….. a cup of coffee halfway was a lovely touch and greatly appreciated! Really fun and interesting

I’ve lived here for 24 years and I saw interesting sites, buildings, alleys etc. that I didn’t know existed. We stayed within old Bristol and Martin entertained us with anecdotes about sites we’ve passed many times and never noticed. Who knew Castle Park was so big? Spotted some excellent independent cafes, turn off the main streets, avoid the chains and there are some gems around. Thoroughly recommended for visitors and residents. Signed book and one of the best coffees incl - don’t miss out!

Great walk around Old and newer Bristol City. Martin did rise to the challenge and showed us plenty of little intricacies of Bristol which although we have walked through the streets many many times and followed a good number of walks he found plenty of interest. Even found a bonus Queen Ann drain pipe.
