Dungeons & Dragons at Playground Coffee House

Curious about playing Dungeons & Dragons but don’t know where to begin? Let Bristol’s experienced Dungeon Masters guide you through an epic adventure, whether it's your first time or you're an experienced player. Bring your friends or come and make a fellowship as you play!

Dungeons & Dragons is about storytelling in worlds of swords and sorcery. Like games of make-believe, D&D is driven by imagination. It’s about picturing a crumbling castle in a darkening forest and imagining how a fantasy adventurer might react to the challenges that scene presents.

Unlike a game of make-believe, D&D gives structure to the stories—a way of determining the consequences of the adventurers’ actions. Players roll the dice to determine whether their attacks hit or miss. Whether their characters can scale a cliff, roll away from the strike of a magical lightning bolt, or pull off a dangerous task. In this fantasy world, the possibilities are limitless - it's all part of the charm.

Rule of Play's Dungeon Masters will create your world, explain the rules of play, and guide you through a fully immersive and individual experience. It’s like being in your own action-adventure movie.

Rules of Play were running D&D nights at Playground for a year, with an intimate atmosphere and excellent range of great coffee, beer and cocktails.

They'll be running a series of 4-hour one-shot episodes that are suitable for people of any range of experience. Your hosts will have characters ready for you to play and you’ll get a guide to your unique character’s personality, skills, weaknesses, and traits. You're welcome to bring your own level one character if you have one.

The world of D&D is summoning you - what are you waiting for!
