Transfer printmaking (2 days)

What you'll do

*Please note that is a weekend workshop run on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October. You will be booked in for both when making your booking *

Want to get to grips with one of the most creative forms of printmaking? Let the lithography superstar Lemonade Press show you how.

Transfer printmaking is the act of transferring something that's already been drawn onto another surface. The source materials can be any kind of media that can be manipulated to release from the original surface and bind to a new one.

During this experience, you will learn how to make your own gummed transfer paper and combine traditional drawing techniques with a range of transfer methods. Your knowledgeable host will guide you step-by-step through the process.

When you're working directly onto a plate or stone you have to remember to work in reverse - unless you're printing on an offset. Transfer paper is different. It allows the artist to just draw, while the method of transferring reverses the image ready for printing. Clever.

This two-day workshop will show you how to use gummed transfer paper and apply photographic imagery to a ball-grained plate using a photocopy transfer technique. You'll also create quick low-tech transfers using newsprint and acetate. You'll grow into a seriously impressive printmaker after your time with Lemonade Press!

Minimum fitness level required.
